Black vs White: A pair of Audi R8 Spyders

So... there were two Audi R8 Spyders at Portland Cars and Coffee this morning.

A white R8 V10 Spyder...

And a black R8 GT Spyder.

Which would you choose? :)

Well, I've gone black and I probably won't go back. I don't have a place to park or maintain a car with black (or really dark paint). Plus, I'm more of a blue kind of guy.

I don't prefer black in general, but I'd go for the GT ... which is black.

Which ever one is manual. If both or neither are, the GT because rarity and it's the newer model which has a dual clutch 7 speed rather than a single clutch floppy paddle 6 speed.

All of the R8 GTs use the R Tronic single-clutch automated manual. I can't remember what the white R8 V10 Spyder had as I was trying to catch up to another car :)

Why the single clutch? They have the double clutch system in the regular R8 V10

Because the original R8 only had either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed single-clutch automated manual R Tronic. It was not until the updated R8 (new LED head and taillights) that it received the 7-speed dual-clutch S Tronic.

The white one is not the updated R8 V10. The GT came out before the updated R8, thus single-clutch automated manual.

Old V10 (6MT or 6AMT)

R8 GT (6AMT only)

New V10 (6MT or 6DCT)

Yeah, the GT came out at the tail end of the original batch of R8s. I did mention that the updated R8s received the 7-speed S Tronic.

There was a black hardtop R8 there as well. Still had a good laugh at the camo wrapped Drophead coupe while I was there.
